Sept. 10: Eco Printing SILK SCARVES with visiting Rittenhouse Craft Show Artist KATHLEEN LANG
Sept. 10: Eco Printing SILK SCARVES with visiting Rittenhouse Craft Show Artist KATHLEEN LANG
Let's do it AGAIN ! HAND DYED SILK SCARVES by you!
Instructor Kathleen Lang will guide students through the very unique and magical process of eco printing on silk scarves 14” x 72”. Eco printing is a sustainable natural dyeing technique of capturing botanical prints directly from live and dried plants. Students will be provided with a list of plant items that can be brought to use in designing. The workshop will begin with a discussion about the colors the collected plants will produce on silk or paper. Students will learn how to arrange their “live plant design” on a silk scarf. The textiles will be processed using a bundling and cooking technique. This will cause the plants to decompose discharging color dye prints into the fabric.
GREAT GIFT!
We will break for lunch. Feel free to pack a lunch or visit one of the many lunch spots in Rittenhouse/Fitler Square.
